Claudius Klimt's AirCam with FC-10 installed - Baltimore, MD
"It is amazing what peace of mind
this gives for long cross country
trips. The AirCam is slow and the changing winds make a big difference in
what airports you can reach. Sometimes the choice is between going downwind to
the nearest airport rather than fighting upwind. In upper Michigan and
Wisconsin, airports are relatively far apart and at slow speed, 40 miles makes a
difference. Your fuel totalizer together with weather on the Garmin 496 makes
long cross country an entirely different/safer adventure."
"Everything worked beautifully. Your support has been exceptional."

AP-60 Audio Mixer in
Timothy O'Brien's Lancair, Florida
"I
have been waiting for this type of unit for about 3 years. It's perfect for a
kitplane without enough space for a full audio panel. And makes more sense when
you only have one COM, NAV, GPS, MUSIC that only utilize have of a full Audio
panel. It's very reasonable. It also provides the equalization of all the audio
inputs which you cannot get by just combining all the audio output wires. " |

GT-50 Installed in Mervin Friesen's Sonex
Ontario, Canada |

The Sonex philosophy embraces
simple, low cost performance and the GT-50 is all of that. The GT-50 is worth
its price as a recording G-meter alone, but it’s additional features (clock,
stopwatch, engine timer, and voltmeter) make it one of the best instrument
values out there. I installed one in the intentionally-basic panel of my Sonex
and it is the perfect compliment to my Grand Rapids EIS. I’ve found the G-Meter
to be very sensitive, yet it is very easy to gauge a trend and nail a desired
G-loading. The Sonex panel is tilted at 30-degrees which posed no problem
for the GT-50s new tilted-panel capability. I tested it by putting a pen
on my glareshield and pushing negative Gs. The pen would consistently float from
the glareshield at -.01G. Though purchased as a G-meter, I’ve come to use
the clock and stopwatch feature consistently. I wouldn’t be without a GT-50 in
my panel.

Flight
Data Systems GT-50 tested
I have been testing the new
Flight Systems GT-50 in my SU-26. As mentioned earlier this year, this is an
extremely light weight G-meter with voltmeter, clock, and timer functions. The
2 1/4 " display is highly visible in direct sunlight. The size and crystal
clarity of the display allows the pilot's eyes to effortlessly pass over the
G-meter during a pull, taking a snapshot of momentary G-load. Try that with a
mechanical G-meter! G sensitivity and accuracy are within 1% of my Russian
G-meter. Commands are intuitive. I was able to eliminate my original
voltmeter, a clock, and one of two other G-meters at a savings of almost 2
pounds. The GT-50 has proven to be rugged, surviving a drop on the floor
before installation by a ham handed A & P.
All steady positive and negative
changes of pitch demonstrated identical G readings with the Russian
accelerometer. Multiple snap rolls at around a 9+ G load gave a .1 G
difference between technologies. I could not tell which one was correct, but
the agreement is well within any desired limits. I suspect that mechanical G
meters are somewhat distorted by rotational G loads contributing to the
momentum of the mechanical arms. Snapping to right gave .1 G more. Snapping to
left gave .1 G less than the GT-50. Solid state G sensors also have an update
of 4 times /sec.
Selling for less than $200,
I
have not seen anything this impressive in a long time.
